SEEING visions of “controversy” rising on the near horizon, Rappahannock’s Supervisors threw back to the county planning commission a suggestion that a hearing be held on some recommended changes to the county’s zoning and subdivision law.
At their meeting last Thursday, the Supervisors declined a planning commission proposal that the two bodies hold a joint hearing on the changes, and some members indicated they didn’t much like the changes—or the whole idea of changing in general—anyway.
Newbill Miller, who resigned during the past year as chairman of the Board of Supervisors, spoke up strongly from the audience against “change just to be changing.” Said Miller: “Every time you discuss it, it just creates a furor...I don’t think this is good for government.”
