Mrs. James F. Massie assured the teachers that their requests will be written^ into the proposed budget and I.R. Kilby, school board chairman, added that they would do everything possible on their behalf.

Mrs. Lynne Baines expressed appreciation to the School Board for sanctioning the seventh grade trip to Williamsburg and Richmond, which was evaluated as very beneficial to the students. She said one child asked her at school later how much the trip would cost five years from now, her smaller sister wanted to go.

MR. AND MRS. Roy Beck and Mrs. Betty Burke appeared before the school board in reference to the school bus route in their area. They stated that the children board the bus at 7:10 and travel 13 miles away from the school before going toward the school. Another bus, the one their children previously rode, comes within two tenths of a mile of their stop.

The Becks also said the bus broke down two or three times a week when it wasn’t getting stuck, and was becoming continuously worse. He got on the bus that day to ride the entire route and see what was what, but his mission
