He also referred to “ommissions.” Well, on that subject, why is it that Vepco made absolutely no admission, to my knowledge, that the entire year of 1974 saw no electric demand growth for the first time in decades? That is, I know of no such admission until McCammond acknowledged the fact in his recent letter—only after I had disclosed the figures as given to me, at my request, by the State Corporation Commission.
McCammond conceded that this no-growth phenomenon was “the first decline in decades.” Where was Vepco’s public news release on so newsworthy a development? Why did it wait for a mere taxpayer to make the disclosure? Was it fearful public revelation might jeopardize its demand for more high-tension powerlines that cannot be justified unless electric demand keeps increasing?
