Attends camp
Lavonne Adkins of Washington was among eleven youths who participated in the first conservation camp sponsored by the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. The weeklong session was held at Vesuvius August 10-16. Participants were selected through area competition in the 1974-75 contests.
The natural setting of the camp located in the George Washington National Forest was used to provide first-hand learning experiences in man’s interrelationship with the environment, with emphasis on the preservation of water, wildlife, forest land and plant life.
