The summer carnival season will close next week after the Washington Firemen hold their carnival Wednesday through Saturday, September 3, 4, 5 and 6. Highlights of the fund raising event include the selection of Little Miss Washington on Wednesday evening; the crowning ceremony for an Honorary Fire Chief Thursday; a grand parade. Friday night and the awarding of numerous prizes at the conclusion of festivities Saturday night.
Three small girls are competing for the title of Little Miss Washington. They are Lynn Bailey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bailey; Tara Fisher, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bradford Fisher and Edna (Edie) Eastham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Eastham. Votes for these young ladies may be cast at various business establishments in the town.
