in the case of an accident. The Price Anderson Act sets a $560 million insurance limit on recovery in case of nuclear accident and most of that is paid by the tax payer. The company which built the reactor has no liability. The AEC’s own studies indicate a major nuclear accident could cost from $7 billion to 280 billion in losses.
