Accidents'
A 1964 Volkswagon driven by Charles Griffith of McLean was declared a total loss after it went out of control and flipped over on Route 211 near Hillsdale on August 22. The driver was cited for reckless driving by Trooper R. A. Baines.
The same day, a mile north of Flint Hill on Route 522 a hit and run traffic collision occurred. According to Trooper Baines, Don Altman of Richmond in a ‘75 Chevrolet was sideswiped by a ‘65 Oldsmobile driven by George A. Turner, Jr. of Huntly. Extensive damage was caused to the left side of the Chevrolet and to the left front of the Turner vehicle which failed to stop at the scene. Charges are pending.
On Route 622, the same busy day, a single vehicle crash took place. A Chevrolet operated by Robert Jenkins of Sperryville went out of control and struck some trees. Minor damage resulted. □
Bridge party
Mrs. W.H. Lyne was hostess to the Sperryville Bridge Club at her home “Intervale” on Friday evening. Guests included Mrs. Charles H. Estes, Mrs. I.R. Kilby, Mrs. R.E. Wood, Mrs. L.J. Kilby, Mrs. Brown Miller, Mrs. Elmo Flynt, Mrs. Hugh Chrisman, Mrs. Dale Metzinger, Mrs. T.J. Pillar, Mrs. E.N. Montague, Mrs. W.H. Cordle and Mrs. E.A. McNear. Prizewinners were Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Metzinger and Mrs. Montague. □
