achievement in the areas of reading and math. Throughout the year these students were given special instruction in reading and math to supplement the regular instructional program.
The 16 students selected were tested in the beginning of the year to see what skills they needed to learn. They were tested at the end of the year to determine how much growth in achievement had taken place.
In the area of reading, the students in this program showed an increase of 24 percentile rankings. This means that at the end of the year these students outscored 24 percent more students throughout the State than they did in the beginning of the year.
