LOCAL carpenters and parttime fruit pickers Bob Coles and Tom Green took Sam Snead and Snead Orchards to small claims court in Washington on January 7, and were awarded the $300 in back wages that they were seeking.
Coles and Green had both picked for Snead Orchards during the 1974 apple season. That year the pickers were paid 40 cents a bushel, 35 cents in a weekly paycheck and 5 cents at the end of the season as an inducement for remaining the entire season.
