Board members Arthlinda Quaintance asked Mrs. Baines how many of the county’s teachers were represented by the Association.
“We still represent more than 50 percent,” she answered, adding that most, if not all, of the teachers at both schools had looked at the demands and had given “input.”
“We tried to be realistic this year because we realize everybody’s in a pinch.” She asked that the Board consider the REA proposals and forward comments or questions to the Association before the next Board meeting.
“We can’t do much until the state lets us know what we have to work with,” replied acting chairman Beverly Massie.
