He said the RLEP believes the county should undertake a study aimed at solving the county’s longrange landfill problems, possibly picking several sites, and not rely on private operations. He said county landfill ownership with operators under contract, would be better.
James H. Dellenger, an adjoining landowner, presented the petition mentioned by Greene. Patricia Helmer said she lives within a mile of the proposed “dump site” and that she feels it would have an adverse effect on the value of her property.
Said Mrs. Helmer: “We chose Rappahannock because of its beauty and clean air, and any landfill should be some place where it can be hidden away and not on the main drag as you come into the countv.’’
