LATER in the meeting, Norton reported to the Board on the Governor’s funding proposals for action at the coming session of the General Assembly. The state will have a $117 million deficit at the end of the current biennium in July, 1978. To offset this deficit, Godwin has presented a proposal that will cut educational funds to the localities, said Norton.
Rappahannock was scheduled to receive $288,000 in basic aid funds for the 1977-78 school year. A 7.5 percent reduction is proposed that will result in a loss of $21,600 with basic aid to education funds amounting to only $267,000, said Norton.
