To the editor: This will be a day late, hot t would like to answer a letter from IMA FARMER. To start with, housing is so scarce in Rappahannock County that it's almost impossible to find a place to rent or buy that one can afford. This Is due to a stupid 5 or 25 acre tract to benefit the farmers only who own large tracts that are not taxed according to the prices some of them are trying to sell for. Example: July 7 ad of 292 acres for $500,000. Is this land taxed at this rate? Same ad: 28 acres at $110,000. Is this taxed at this rate? I already know the answer is no, for most can't afford it If a few subdivisions were allowed, it seems to me the tax burden could be lightened for all.

The average young person can’t afford to buy 5 or 25 acres and then build a house on the salary of this county. If a survey was taken, I would estimate that approximately 75 per cent of the young people leave the county for this very purpose. If more controlled subdivisions were allowed in the medium income class, it would increase taxes for this county, increase the help of state and federal funds for
