of these objectives in Rappahannock County are timber production, firewood production, wildlife, recreation, and aesthetics (not necessarily in that order). These are the topics that I have chosen to discuss; additional suggestions will certainly be welcomed.

Horse Show

The second annual Middleburg National Horse Show will be held at the Foxcroft School August 2125. The show is run in cooperation with the Middleburg Volunteer Fire Dept. The first event, in 1976, was an overwhelming success, with close to 700 horses. “We expect this year to have even more entries,” said Bradford Smith, president of the show. “And we hope that spectators and exhibitors will be delighted with some of the additional attractions this year.”
For the spectators the added attraction will be the Pet-A-Pet Farm, a lama, a goat, and even an elephant will be brought to the showgrqunds. Luncheon will be available at the show but spectators are welcome to bring a picnic. There is ample space on the plush grounds.
A total of $20,000 in prize money and trophies is at stake during the five days. This includes the exciting Preliminary and Intermediate Jumper Divisions every day. In addition, there will be the $1000 Pony Hunter Classic on Tuesday, August 22. On the final afternoon, Thursday, August 25, the $1000 Junior-Amateur Classic and the $1000 Middleburg National Hunter Chunk will take place.
Foxcroft School Showgrounds are located on Route 626 just 3.8 miles from the center of town. Admission is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children under 12.. .
