Rappahannock County will receive $19,737.73 as its share of $27.7 million in Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) profits for the fiscal year that ended June 30. Virginia localities were allocated a total of $18.3 million and the remaining $9.4 million was deposited into the general fund.
Although ABC profits were up this year by approximately $32,000, $2.6 million went to the State Board of Health and the State Hospital Board for the treatment of alcoholics, an increase of $537,400.
This reduced the profits available for distribution to localities by $373,093. This amount was taken from the profits designated for the general fund and applied toward the localities’ share.
Using the 1970 census figures, the localities received S3.93 per person, the same as in 1976.
Only four counties received a smaller share of ABC profits than Rappahannock. Six towns in the Commonwealth were allocated less than Washington’s $744.60 share of ABC profits.
