Mrs. Hobson agreed. “She was the teacher when your child began in junior primary,” she told Smoot. “She was just top notch in getting in touch with parents.”
Mrs. Massie suggested that Smoot attend the Placement Committee meeting rescheduled for September 20 and advised him to bring his child’s missing report card.
Until the report card can be found, the School Board has “no jurisdiction to place William other than where he is right now” without action by the Placement Committee, said Bloomer.
Vacancy Declared
After a long executive session, the Board returned to an open meeting sometime around midnight. Paul Nichols moved that a vacancy be declared for the position of assistant principal at the elementary school. His motion died for lack of second.
Then Board member Alan Stokes moved that all prospective candidates for die advertized position of elementary principal be interviewed. The motion passed unanimously.
The Board authorized Dr. Bloomer to set up interviews for preliminary screening with the 11 applicants and any additional persons who may apply.
