The Ag District Act will encourage the maintenance of farming related businesses that are not intensive employers but do offer "considerable employment in any community,” said Marshall. It will also give a stronger voice on land use issues in a district to its members, according to the VPI specialist. ‘‘There will be numerous voices speaking as a single voice,” he said.

New Library
Hours Set
The Rappahannock County Library is going to try again to expand services to the community. Librarian Grace Sims reports that a number of library users have suggested evening hours of operation. Although a similar experiment was unsuccessful two years ago (only four people visited the library during night hours over the trial period), the library staff is willing to give evening hours another chance.
Beginning October 11, the library will be open Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Sims emphasized that community support is needed to continue the new hours.
