The second annual Virginia State and MidAtlantic Open Championship Turkey Calling Contest will be held Saturday, October 8 in Winchester. Richard M. Shively, President of the Va. State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, said that “both contests will be held on October 8th at the James Wood High School, Rte. 50 West in Winchester. Registration for the Va. State Contest must be completed by 10:30 A.M. and for the Mid-Atlantic Contest by 2:30 P.M.”
Events scheduled for the day include: 8:30 a.m. —Exhibits open and registration; 9:30 a.m. —Calling and Hunting Seminar; 10-11 a.m.—Film “Call of the Wild Turkey” produced by Richard Smith of Blain, Pa.; 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.—Virginia State Championship Calling Contest; 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.—Lunch will be available on the premises.
Following the second showing of the turkey film at 1:45 p.m., the Mid-Atlantic Open Turkey Calling Championship will commence beginning at 3 p.m. and will conclude at 5 p.m.
Exhibitors will have on display and for sale various items related to American wildlife, such as wildlife
