Barbara Thompson ot Sperryville will conduct a workshop sponsored by the Mental Health Association of Culpeper on Gail Sheehy’s book, “Passages.” The book deals with personal development, a subject area on which Mrs. Thompson is immanently qualified.

Barbara Thompson has a Masters in Guidance and Counseling. She has led workshops in assertiveness training, communication skills and human relations for a variety of organizations, including church, educational and government agencies. She has also had experience in leadership training, career counseling and women’s programs and has taught at a number of levels, including college, in Washington, D. C., California and Istanbul, Turkey.

“In Passages, the author, Gail Sheehy, set out to describe the states of development through which we pass during adulthood,” said Mrs. Thompson. “While childhood has long been recognized as a period when developmental stages of growth could be observed, it remained for Gail Sheehy to present in highly readable form the evidence of a corresponding sequence of events in adulthood.
