With the weather turning cooler, we’ll have more time to spend indoors. If you are like mi, you’ll find it hard to sit down without doing something such as needlepoint, sewing, knitting, etc. And it’s not too early to start making some of your Christmas gifts this year. The following classes are being offered during October and November: Refinishing, Caning, Quilting, Needlepoint, Knitting, Christmas Decorations, Breadmaking and Lampshades.
If you have an interest in any of these classes, please call or write the V.P.I Extension Office, P. O. Box 98, Washington 22747, 6753619. We need at least 5 in each class, so register now. First come, first served.

3 medium TART apples, peeled and sliced
5 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups unsifted flour
2Vi cups sugar
*/j teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
Juice of 1 medium orange (about 3 tablespoons)
4 unbeaten eggs
1 cup corn oil
2Vi teaspoon vanilla
Mix first three ingredients and set aside.
Sift dry ingredients together, and add rest of ingredients, beating until smooth.
Grease large tube pan, and flour it.
Alternate layers of batter and apple mixture.
