Davis noted that his suggestions were tentative proposals only for application on agricultural and forestry land.
"We keep talking about maps,” Luke interjected. ‘‘Who’s going to do all that?” he asked.
‘‘That’s a technical problem,” Davis responded.
Phil Irwin, president of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, spoke up from the audience. (Irwin was the only person in the audience besides the press.) Speaking on behalf of RLEP, Irwin said he agreed in principal with all of Davis’s suggestions. ‘‘It sounds very good to us,” he added.
Irwin suggested that the Planning Commission try to get help in drawing up maps from the Piedmont Environmental Council or the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission.
Ordinances can be revised to accomplish purposes that the county wants accomplished, Davis said. He noted that his proposals for changes would not prevent anybody “from doing what they’re already allowed to do . . . Only the legal procedure is different,” he concluded.
