RLEP Supports Concept
Roger Batchelder presented the BZA with a resolution passed last week by the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection’s Board of_ Directors, approving the concept of a year-round ^operation at the ski area.
Dr. Krebser, member of i RLEP, asked Batchelder if the League’s approximately 300 members were invited to . discuss the resolution.
Batchelder said they were not and agreed that the resolution orginated entirely with the eight member Board of directors. He added that three directors had abstained from voting in favor of ski area reopening and expansion.
John Lyle, James Swindler and Lois Snead stated support for issuance of aj special use permit to the ski [ area because they felt its operation would bring in increased tax revenues.
Attorney Baumgardner noted that one cent from every dollar spent on goods in Rappahannock comes back to the locality from the state for schools. However, he agreed that there was no sales tax levied on the price of a ride ticket.
