In other action, the Supervisors named Jennings Hobson III as Rappahannock representative to the Chapter 10 Mental Health and Retardation Board and appointed Richard Settle (Wakefield District) and Randall Updike (Hampton District) to serve on the Rappahannock Highway Safety Committee.
Following a half hour executive session to “discuss personnel matters,” Chairman Luke reported that the Supervisors had voted to hire Fanning Baumgardner at $6 per hour for work as county engineer as needed. Under this arrangement, Baumgardner will be available on a daily basis rather than just one day a week, Luke explained. He added that Baumgardner would pay his own secretarial help out of the $6.
