Laing
Mrs. Sally Montgomery Harris Laing of Amissville died Friday, Jan. 6, 1978 in Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton. She was born in Fauquier County in 1910, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harris. She attended Warrenton Country School.
In 1937 she married Douglas Garvey Laing, who survives her. They lived in Herndon, New Baltimore and later in Washington, D. C. where Mrs. Laing was affiliated with the Mary Elizabeth Dress Shop.
After Mr. Laing’s retirement as vice president of Security Storage, the Laings returned to thgir home, Bunfree Farm at Amissville7 where they engaged An farming. Mrs. Laing-^was active with the Womens Auxiliary of St. James Episcopal Church in Warrenton, of which she was a member, and civic organizations, including the Rappahannock Chapter American Cancer Society.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Miss Aileen Laing of Amissville and Sweet Briar and Mrs. Dwight Platt of Baltimore, Md.; a son. Dr. Noel Laing of Trenton, New Jersey; and several grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Robert Rutherford of Peoria, 111., Mrs. V. Jackson Dorset of Largo, Fla.; and a brother, Charles M. Harris of Warrenton.
A funeral service was held Tuesday from St. James Church conducted by the Rev. David Greer. Interment was in Warrenton Cemetery.
