To the editor:
Rappahannock residents who want to retain the beauty, quiet and cleanliness of our countryside should come to the BZA hearing at the Court House tonight, 7:30. The rural character of our County is again under attack. It can be preserved only by constant vigilance; witness the destruction of our neighboring counties and know that it is so.
The owners of the everfailing ski slope in Harris Hollow now want to turn their bad investment into a year-round amusement park.
The few tenuous advantages of such an enterprise are totally outweighed by the disadvantages. What a price we will payt It trill be only a matter of time until there will be slides and rides, gaudy lights and raucous music. Heavy traffic and litter will build up on the roads. Fast food Joints and other commercial ventures will follow. The beautiful valley that has been Harris Hollow will be destroyed forever.
But that is not the end of it. Our taxes will go up to pay for all the attendant ills the amusement park will bring us. The recent BZA hearing brought out many of the
rmtial dangers. There will
no end to the spreading urban cancer that has already infected neighboring counties.
