"How many doctors can specialize in a different area every week on patients who never complain? Well, I do,” says Phyllis Irwin, Rappahannock County’s resident doll doctor.
Although it is only a hobby, her practice continues to build as friends and acquaintances often call on her to mend old dolls, and she just can’t resist the challenge. “It is satisfying to see a doll which was in bad shape, emerge looking like her old self again. They arrive in pathetic condition and their expressions actually seem to change and they leave smiling,” said Phyllis.
