2. The engineers claim that the septic system they have will take care of the sewerage system. My understanding is that this system was put in to take care of 1,000 people. Engineers have been wrong so often and can’t say how long this system -will stand up. The Corps of Engineers said that the Merck & Company plant would not contaminate the South Fork of the Shenandoah River but the river is now contaminated from the plant above Elton to Front Royal. I would venture to say that in less than three years’ time we would have the Rush River contaminated with human waste. What assurance do we have that the septic system is sufficient for the operation to be decided upon? 3. What is it going to cost the county to police and keep up the access road, that is Route 622, to the area?
4. Why were only 30 acres taxed commercially and who is responsible for this error? If the whole tract was zoned commercial why eliminate all except the 30 acres at the commercial tax rate?
I think it is very important that the above questions be completely and fully answered before an intelligent determination can be made as to whether or not this permit should be granted.
