To the editor:
A previous commitment prevents my attendance at the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting this Thursday evening, but because I feel strongly about this issue, I would like to address my views on the matter of the installation of the Alpine roller coaster in Harris Hollow to the . Board members and to the citizens of Rappahannock.
First, I would strongly urge the Board of Zoning Appeals to delay any final decision on this matter pending a full investigation of the ramifications of granting the request by Mr. Moore for a special use permit. This investigation should be conducted by the Health Department, the Highway Department and the Sheriffs Department. Other concerned citizens have already raised questions about the serious and adverse environmental impact implicit in granting the special use permit. Among these concerns are increased air and water pollution, a potentially hazardous increase in traffic levels, and a probable increase in litter, vandalism and otner criminal activity.
Due to the serious and far reaching effect which their decision may have on Rappahannock County, I believe it would be wise for the Board to hold this matter in abeyance pending the receipt of the written recommendations of the County agencies set forth above.
Second, I would urge all of* the citizens of Rappahannock
