Ski Area
To the editor:
I feel that the application for the Ski Area should be granted.
If we are going to keep our property taxes down in Rappahannock County, we have to find some other way of raising revenues to pay for public services that are going to have to be provided. It seems to me having a strong and successful ski area would provide much needed sales tax revenue, which in turn would decrease the tendency to increase property taxes.
If Rappahannock is going to continue to be a good place for fanning and for farmers, and if we are to avoid property taxes that put fanners out of business, then something has to be done to increase business activity in this county so that we can raise enough sales tax revenue to pay the ever increasing cost of government. I endorse the ski area. I hope that everyone else will turn out on Thursday, Jan. 12 and endorse it as well.
