The Rappahannock Hunt Race Committee is hard at work preparing for this year’s Point-to-Point races to take place on Saturday, March 4th. In spite of snow and winter chill, the beautiful course will be ready for the 29th running of this colorful event. The races will be run over the picturesque land of James W. Fletcher’s Thornton Hill Farm, 2 miles south of Sperryville on Route 522.

Under the direction of Witold Kuncewicz, Race Committee Chairman, this year’s program will include two new races; a pony race for riders under 16 years of age and “The New Mount Marshall,’’ a 2 Vi mile race for foxhunters. The Chairman says ’’Our spectators will see the finest and the fastest speeplechasers race over some of Virginia’s most beautiful countryside. We have made many improvements for the spectators and for the riders. This year’s races promise to be the best we have ever had.”
