farmers spent almost S89 billion in 1976 to raise crops, livestock, and poultry, according to an estimate by the U. S. Department of Agriculture and the Virginia Crop and Livestock Reporting Service.
Production expenditure information is a major ingredient in determining net farm income and is used as a guide in computing the parity index and other factors about the farmer’s position in the national economy.
Hazel Broyles of the Virginia Crop and Livestock Reporting Service will be contacting several farmers in Rappahannock County during February and March in an effort to establish production expenditure levels for 1977. Some producers will be asked a series of questions about their marketing practices for livestock, field crops, fruits and vegetables. Hazel Broyles added that
