A mobile sight and hearing unit, sponsored by the Rappahannock Lions Club, will be in the county to conduct free screening tests on March 4, 5, 6 and 7. The unit will be stationed at Trinity Episcopal Church parking lot in Washington on Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 5, from 1 to 5 p.m. On Monday and Tuesday, March 6 and 7, the mobile unit will be at the elementary school from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
John Schultz, Rappahannock Lions Club Sight Chairman, estimated that between 180 and 200 students could be screened each day the unit is at the school. Parental permission slips will be sent home this week and must be signed and returned before testing. Schultz said that older children will be given priority since time limitations prevent screening the entire student body for sight and hearing problems.
