County teachers have also asked for $200 to be applied to hospitalization, life insurance or income protection as designated by the individual. Bomberger noted that 95.54 per cent of Virginia teachers are currently provided with full or partial payment of these premium costs.
He added that Rappahannock teachers had not received an increase in payment for extra curricular duty since 1972. By adopting the extracurricular pay scale proposed by the Education Association in January, the School Board could bring those levels of compensation more in line with salaries being paid in other districts, Bomberger said.
