In case of known violations of the redaction order, Potomac Edison has the authority to completely discontinue electrical service if the violation is not * corrected within 24 hours following written notice.
In addition to requiring a 30 per cent cutback in electrical usage, the SCC order effective March 2 also immediately implements Emergency Energy Plan requirements to "request curtailment of all outdoor flood and advertising lighting except for the minimum level necessary to protect life and property and a single illuminated sign identifying commercial facilities that are open after dark.”
Other requirements now in effect are reduction of general lighting levels in stores and offices as close to minimum functional levels as possible, elimination of show window and display lighting, reduction of temperature settings to no more than 68 degrees, and "a minimization of work schedules, as for building cleaning and maintenance, restocking, etc. which would require office or industrial facilities to be illuminated, cooled or heated beyond normal working hours.”
