Historic Table
Peter Kramer, furniture designer and cabinet maker in Washington, was recently commissioned by the Dennis Historical Society of Cape Cod, Mass., to design and build a large trestle table for use in the keeping room of the Joshiah Dennis Manse. The Dennis House was constructed in 1737 and is now open to the public as a National Historic Site restoration.
Kramer’s work was selected after a lengthy search failed to locate a suitable antique.
Both the Rev. Joshiah Dennis and his father were master cabinet makers and Kramer plans to build a table similar to that which they might well have made for themselves.
The Historical Society has provided research material on the Dennis family, their life and times to aid Kramer in achieving a proper design.
