daughter of Mr. and Mrs.: Mark Holliday who sang “Consider the Lillies” by Natalie Sleeth. Paula Butler of Boston placed second in the instrumental division with “Prelude In B Minor Opus 28” by Chopin. She is a student at Rappahannock County High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Butler. She is 15.
Others participating in the contest were vocalists Dee Dee Grant of Washington and Nicholas Bischoff of Castleton; pianists Carol Atkins and Elizabeth Freeman of Flint Hill, Dawn Kenyon, Slate Mills, Winona Ammons and Susan Seal, both of Front Royal.
Between performances members of Rappahannock Lions Club explained and discussed various activities of their organization, local and international and collected six donors for the Old Dominion Eye Bank. This program provides human lenses for the blind from deceased donors.
