Who would have thought that we’d ever look forward to an annual inflation rate of 6 per cent with an emotion close to ecstacy? Yet, today that’s what we're doing. The reason, of course, is that after three successive yearly hikes averaging better than 9 per cent, 1976’s 6 per cent increase looks pretty good. Don’t be fooled - 6 per cent inflation is high.
