my husband took over leadership of the snow brigade and sent everyone but “irresistable force” back out to shovel. While the highway department’s snow plows would eventually make it up very low priority Red Oak Mountain road, we knew that they weren’t going to tackle our driveway. So, my husband reasoned, even with no place to go we’d still have to dig ourselves out—if not on Monday, then Tuesday or the next day—unless we wanted to wait for the spring thaws.
With cabin fever now in full control of my senses, I eagerly agreed. When that snow plow hit the mountain, I was going to be ready to follow it back down to civilization.
