While residents of the greater metropolitan area are still struggling with traffic tie-ups on major roads that have only one lane cleared, folks out in rural Rappahannock can drive under almost normal conditions on little traveled country lanes.
By Tuesday afternoon here, highway department crews had plowed and replowed gravel roads that deadend on mountain tops. By Tuesday afternoon in Fairfax, Alexandria and Arlington, subdivision residents were still snowed in on streets that serve hundreds of families.
