The continuing snowfall paralysis in the Metropolitan D. C. makes one pause and wonder why Rappahannock County so quickly dug out and resumed normal activities. The main reason is that Mr. Bywaters and his crew of 24 in the local Highway Maintenance Department hit the road at noon Sunday, when the snow started falling, and didn’t quit until routes were clear.
They used every available truck and the grader and even contracted three trucks to help. All through the night they worked and on Monday morning we found most of our 54 miles of primary road useable. Considering that much of that is four lane road, the job was
