the Woods had probably left their vehicle and continued home on foot when they were swept away by flood waters. Squad personnel searched for the couple until 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and resumed looking at 7 a.m. The bodies were found below Fletchers Mill near the kennels for the Rappahannock hounds at approximately 9 a.m.

Several Sperryville residents report that more than eight inches of rain fell on the area in an hour, beginning at 8 p.m. According to highway department personnel, roads were impassable throughout Tuesday night in most of the county with the Sperryville vicinity hardest hit by the flash flooding.
