In addition to these duties, Captain Terry has served as chairman of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators’ Engineering and Inspection Committee and the Vehicle Equipment Safety Commission. He is a past president of the Virginia Safety Association, the Southern Safety Conference consisting of 14 southern states and also of Region II, American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.
“Virginia’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Program has always been considered one of the best in the country," said Colonel D. M. Slane, Department Superintendent, “and Captain Terry’s efforts in this program and other related programs also have received national attention. We are very proud that Brazil, through its invitation to Captain Terry, has made this recognition international in scope.”
Captain Terry, a native of Warm Springs in Bath County, joined the Depart-1 ment in September 1948. In advancing through the ranks, he served in Lynchburg, Nottoway County, Richmond, Manassas and Chesapeake and was appointed to his present position in 1966 as Safety Officer
