Captain R. M. Terry, Safety Officer for the Virginia State Police, will travel to Brazil, September 14-21, to deliver lectures on Virginia’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Program and the Department’s Intradepartmental Vehicle Safety Program.
Captain Terry will be participating in a National Traffic Conference attended by traffic authorities from throughout Brazil. All expenses incurred are being paid by the Brazil Department of Transportation.
Brazil recently sent Dr. Julio Cesar da Silveira Neto, Deputy Director of Transportation, to Virginia for information regarding development of a Motor Vehicle Periodic Inspection Program for their country. Following this exchange of information, Brazilian authorities invited Captain Terry to lecture at their National Traffic Conference.
Virginia’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Program, begun in 1932, has long been recognized as one of the most outstanding programs in the nation and has served as a model for many other states.
