Specially-equiped pick-up trucks will operate from 4:30 p.m. to midnight on Friday, August 31, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to midnight on Labor Day. Roads to be covered include Interstate 95 between Northern Virginia and Prince George County, Interstate 64 between Richmond and Norfolk, Interstate 66 between Interstate 495 and Gainesville and Interstate 81 between Dixie Caverns and US 220 at Cloverdale.
Trucks will carry signs to designate their function and will be equipped with safety flares and flags, traffic cones, fire extinguishers, water and other emergency supplies. Two-way radios will provide contact through base stations with police, rescue squads and other emergency services.
