The students of Wakefield Country Day School will be exposed to various phases of the performing arts this year through their Music Appreciation Program under the direction of Mrs. Gloria Harris.
Beginning with a performance of the Navy Band Ceremonial Unit at Wakefield School on October 24, students will receive instruction in music appreciation from various bands, orchestras, and ensembles, including the opera, in what promises to be an event-packed year. The Navy Band Ceremonial Units, established in 1925, is a 28 piece ensemble under the direction of Chief Warrant Officer J. B. Kite. It has played for the White House, for State and military funerals, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and for the arrival of foreign dignitaries, most recently Pope John Paul.
