NOTICE OF INVITATION FOR BIDS FOR TELEPHONE FRANCHISE IN THE TOWN OF WASHINGTON, VIRGINIA
The Town of Washington, Virginia, hereby invites bids for the telephone franchise proposed to be granted in the following ordinance which was duly passed by the Council and approved by the Mayor on the 9th day of October, 1979, which bids are to be in writing and delivered to the presiding officer of the Council of said Town in open session, to be held in the Council Chamber at Washington, Virignia, on the 13th day of November, 1979, at 7:30 o'clock, P.M., the right being reserved to reject any and all bids. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO CENTRAL TELEPHONE COMPANY OF VIRGINIA, ITS LESSEES, SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, A FRAN CHISE, RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE FOR A PERIOD OF THIRTY (30) YEARS TO USE THE STREETS, ALLEYS, BRIDGES AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES OF THE TOWN OF WASHINGTON, VIRGINIA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ERECTING, MAINTAINING, AND OPERATING A TELEPHONE SYSTEM INCLUDING ALL NECESSARY APPURTENANCES, AND PRESCRIBING CERTAIN TERMS AND CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH SAID COMPANY IS TO OPERATE.
SECTION. 1. All poles erected by the Company shall be neat and symmetrical, and be so located as in no way to interfere with the safety or convenience of persons traveling on or over the said streets, alleys, highways and other public places.
SECTION 2. The location of poles erected by virtue of this ordinance shall be subject to the supervision of the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Washington or their successor in function, and the Company shall replace and properly repair any sidewalks or street pavement which may have been displaced or damaged by it In the construction and maintenance of its system, and upon failure of the Company to do so, after twenty (20) days' notice in writing shall have been given by the Mayor and Town Council or his successor in function to the Company, the Town may repair such portion
