Priorities Necessary
In support of using the survey results in developing his draft work plan, Baumgardner noted that expansion priorities will determine what construction guidelines the committee gives an architect. He maintained that parents interested in education had returned the surveys and predicted that a response from all parents in the county would break down into the same percentages.
“Let’s try to use the survey results," Baumgardner said. He added that he could include parent response in his draft work plan and then the committee would have the option of changing or doing away with that section.
In deciding on a figure to use for projected enrollment increases, Baumgardner asked the committee members to write percentages on “secret” ballots. Opening the folded slips of paper, he read 10 per cent, twelve per cent, five percent and eighteen per cent.
‘‘Look at them again,” suggested Stokes.
After rechecking, Baumgardner corrected 18 per cent to minus eighteen per cent. Changing his mind, Stokes asked that his “secret” ballot percentage read minus eight instead of minus eighteen.
