The Rappahannock Varsity Panthers gave their fans an early Christmas present and finished out the 70’s with a 63-57 win on December 21 over the Montevideo Maroons, last year’s Skyline District Champions.
Montevideo broke on top with the first basket in the opening seconds of the game. Tbe Panthers bounced right back, however, with two baskets and held the lead for the rest of the contest.
Montevideo made a run and pulled within six points but that was as close as the former champs could get. Rappahannock won by 12 after holding the lead by as much as 17 points. The Panthers controlled the boards with 37 rebounds.
