Rappahannock’s 8th grade basketball team under the direction of Coach Mike Connifey began its season this week.
The schedule consists of home games on January 8, 11. IS and 25 and away games op January 29 and February 8. The opening game set for last Friday, Jan. 4, was cancelled because of snow. All contests begin at 4 p.m.
Coach Connifey sees the lack of information on opponents in the league as one of the major problems facing his players. This is Connifey’s first season as a basketball coach and he says he’s not quite sure what to expect.
According to the 8th grade coach, he has a strong starting five in guards, Mike DelGrosso, Clarence Pendleton and Bob Baines and forwards Eugene Grigsby and Thomas Sisk. He says the players work well as a team.
In addition Connifey thinks the 8th grade players are good ball handlers. He expects his players, particularly Sisk and Grigsby, to be strong on rebounding and control the boards on both
