Essay Contest
Here’s your chance to meet Wally Schirra, one of the first Astronauts in the exploration of the moon. Children from kindergarten through the sixth grade are eligible to enter a poster contest, sponsored locally by Washington realtor Eileen M. Day’s Realty World.
The art contest topic is ‘‘My House On The Moon" and must be an 18x24 inch poster showing the kind of house you would like to build on the moon. Posters may be charcoal, water colors, crayon or any other medium preferred and the prize in this area will be a $50 Savings Bond awarded by Eileen M. Day.
The local entry will go to a regional contest and the winner of that will receive a solar telescope. Deadline for the contest is January 21 and judging will be done by three local artists.
The winner in Rappahannock will go to Holiday Inn at Tyson’s Corner January 31 to meet ^gfally Schirra.
